iPad Pro Review

In December I received the most exciting package ever! I’d been waiting a whole week for it and honestly, that week seemed to last forever!! It was *drumroll*... my new 2018 iPad Pro and Apple Pencil!

I’d never had an iPad before and I’d heard so many great reviews from illustrators I follow online that the iPad Pro & Procreate combo was the way forward that I decided I HAD to try it out!

I set my Christmas wallpaper as my background and I loved how it looked in the high definition *heart eyes*. I opted for the smaller size of 11” and it’s still huuuge! It’s a really nice size for illustrating on though.

I decided against buying the official Apple keyboard case as it was ridiculously expensive and the reviews weren’t great. Instead I managed to find one for a fraction of the price on Amazon and I think I actually prefer this because the keys are backlit and have 7 or 8 different colours, which I think is a really nice touch.

On the back of the case I have my signature sloth sticker and my new The Sketch Nook sticker! I love a good Shiba and this one plays the ukulele!

The first thing I did was head to the App Store - I hadn’t been on it in years! I downloaded all the essentials like Instagram, Etsy etc. And then I downloaded Procreate. I had no idea what to expect from it as I’d never really seen anything other than time lapse drawings on Instagram. It’s really simple, there’s far fewer options and tools than I’m used to illustrating in Photoshop, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’m still a little shaky with it, but I used to be like that with my Wacom tablet too when I first got it. Procreate also automatically creates time lapse videos too, so I’ll be uploading loads of them on here!

I found it quite difficult to get used to IOS again because I was so used to my Android phone. The on-screen keyboard layout is slightly different to Android, and it threw me off completely. It also took a while to get used to the controls, especially because there’s no home button so it’s all swiping in different directions for different things. But I got used to that in no time.

One thing I was super excited about was Memoji & Animoji!! I’m a bit gutted that you can only use them in messenger but they’re still pretty cool none the less. The one above is me in case you couldn’t tell!

I tried out Spotify on here for the first time whilst I was typing this up and THE SPEAKERS ARE SO GOOD!!

Okay that’s all for now, you’ll probably hear me talk about the iPad in the future - definitely more about Procreate! If there’s anything you would like to know/anything you would like me to illustrate in Procreate so I can practice more, feel free to let me know in the comments!

Bye for now, Bronte :)
